French bank account for English speakers

If you need a bank account in France it can be a bit of a hassle if you don't speak French. You don't know what you are doing, what you are signing up for and how to get support. In the end my spouse went through the expat forums to find these banks were recommended so I thought I would pass them on.

I started off trying to sign up with Boursorama but quickly became overwhelmed with the amount and kind of French I was being asked to read. I don't understand that much and it is sort of important to know what you are signing up to when it involves money.

N26 looked good. Everything was in English but then it threw an error because I said my place of residence was New Zraland, not France. I emailed customer support who said that I needed to get support through the chat function on the website...which I was unable to find. After a lot of back and forth my spouse tried to use the page on Safari and the chat appeared. It just doesn't work on Firefox and Brave.

Meanwhile I had a look at Revolut but I don't like their,"No fee ATM withdrawals up to €200 per month". I tend to get all my money out instead of using cards all the time and they didn't say how much that was going to cost.

So, it looks like it is N26 for me. They are wiping my past efforts and then they will send me an email and we can start again.
